How come Indiana jones 4 did not received critical receptions as much?
I heard people blasted the movie Kingdom of crystal skull when it first released in May of 2008. I don't know why. I watched two days after it came out and I thought it was really good. I want to know now. I need an examples, flaws, inaccuracies or anything of why the movie is not good enough to fix it's formula. I want full details of everything.
I don't know why it so bad because it blasted for some people who thinks it not old style from previous Indiana Jones from the 80s
Here's some reasons why I didn't like it as much:
"Mutt" stated in the beginning when he first met Indy that he was "pretty good with a blade," which was a brutally obvious lead in that he was going to have a sword fight with Cate Blanchett. The actual fight scene was crudely predictable, (fighting while trying to balance between two moving vehicles in front of a poorly done "green screen" digitized background.
Cate Blanchett, who portrayed Katheryn Hepburn brilliantly in The Aviator, was soon woodenly dull as a Russian (horrible accent) villain one felt literally no threat from her the entire movie.
The movie had too much of a "National Treasure" or "Mummy II" feel to it in certain parts; so much so that it just felt too much like a cheap knock off of those movies, (especially the Mummy II).
Bad dialogue, no good one-liners like in Raiders or Crusade. Story was dull and uninspired. I could care less about what they were searching for. Characters were also quite boring and added no interest for me.
Aliens?! Aliens are not appropriate to Indiana Jones, pulp 1950's style maybe, but not Indiana Jones.
One of things that I liked about the other movies is that they had enough archaeological pseudo-facts it made the quests believable. They spent very little time on the actual archaeological reasoning behind what they were searching for.
That doesn't mean I didn't enjoy the movie however, I just was expecting a lot more from a Lucas/Spielberg team up is all.
