Does anyone like bluegrass music?
Do you listen to bluegrass music? If so, please answer these questions:
1) Who are your favorite bands/artists?
2) Do you listen on the radio or CD's? If radio, what station?
3) How long have you been into bluegrass?
4) Do you play any bluegrass instruments?
5) How old are you?
I'll answer my own questions for you now:
1) My favorites are Lynn Morris Band, Kenny & Amanda Smith, Ronnie Bowman, Rhonda Vincent, and Sierra Hull (my name rhymes with Sierra, by the way).
2) I listen to XM radio channel 14, WDVX 89.9 FM, and a lot of CD's and MP3's.
3) I've been into bluegrass since 2005 when I bought my car. It came with XM radio, and I discovered bluegrass by accident, tuning across the XM dial.
4) I'm learning to play the banjo.
5) I'm 22 years old.
Do I listen to Bluegrass? Lord have mercy that's all I listen to anymore. I have a bunch of CD's in the truck with one of them going all the time. At home, I listen to the Sirius Bluegrass Channel on my Satellite receiver. (Drives my wife nuts, which is an additional benefit)
I like a lot of bands. New Found Road, The Grascals, Infamous String Dusters, John Loudermilk, Ralph Stanley, Flatt & Scruggs etc. My favorite artists are Megan Lynch, Bobby Hicks, Mac Wiseman, Jim & Jessie, Bill Monroe, Tommy Jackson, Tony Rice, Brian Sutton, Jimmy Martin, but I could go on forever.
I've been into bluegrass for over 50 years, so I tend to gravitate to some of the older classic bluegrass players, the guys that were around in the 40's and 50's.
I own and play 3 accoustic guitars, 6 fiddles, 3 mandolins and 2 basses, one electric and the other a 3/4 upright. I've played professionally for over 50 years. (but not as a bluegrass'er, I played the piano professionally. Rock and blues were my living, bluegrass is my passion.)
My age is 68, at least that's what the mirror and my family say, but behind my eyes, I'm still about 25. My playing days are nearly over, but if I had one wish, I'd wish that I could do it all again!
