Van Halen I or Appetite for Destruction? Which debut album did you like better?
I am definitely gonna have to say Van Halen I. In a way, Van Halen I saved rock and roll; it was the late 70's, and disco ruled the world. Big 70's bands like Led Zeppelin, Aerosmith, Kiss, and The Who were all on a decline. Then out of no where, Van Halen I came out and shocked the world, especially with Eddie Van Halen's guitar prowess on the album. Eddie Van Halen was widely imitated, and he is arguably the last greatest and innovative guitarist.
Appetite for Destruction is a good album. I just don't think it matches well with Van Halen I. Slash is a good guitarist, but he did nothing revolutionary or innovative. The songs on the album are good, but they are nothing new or spectacular.
Definitely Van Halen! I like it way better!
