Can anyone help me with guitar chords? Capo help?
I am trying to learn the chords part to tuesday's gone by lynyrd skynyrd, and the chords are A, E, F#m, and D. The problem is i can't play the F#m. Is there anywhere i can put a capo that will make the chords switch to something easier to play? I've messed around with it and can't seem to find anything. Any suggestions would be nice. Oh, and please don't tell me just to practice it because i have know it by tomorrow night!
The easiest way to play the F# minor is to put your first finger on the second fret of the second string ( 2/2), your second finger on the second fret of the third string (3/2) and your third finger on the second fret of the sixth string ( 6/2)
Alternatively, you can play it 3 / 2 / 1 instead of 1 / 2 / 3
mute the other three strings.
6/2 5/X 4/X 3/2 2/2 1/X (X means to mute the string)
6/2 5/X 4/2 3/2 2/2 1/X - F#min7
Later on, you may want to play the full barre. Put your first finger across the entire neck at the second fret and press down. Put your 2nd and 3rd, (or 3rd and 4th) finger on the fifth fret of the fourth and fifth strings and you've got a Full F#minor chord. If you want an F#min7, just lift up the fourth string (but leave the barre in place)
I realize that the three string F#min does not sound as full as the rest of the chords you already know, but it will get you through tomorrow, and then you can learn the full chord at your leisure.
By the way, if you use a capo, just put it across the second fret and play an E minor chord above it (6/0 5/2 4/2 3/0 2/0 1/0)
If you are trying to use your finger to press it across the strings however, you are playing a Barre. Hope this helps.
